Roll-A-Tray Tackle Box
Upper Midwest Mfg Co
Minneapolis, MN
1960s
This is a unique tackle box made in Minnesota in the late 1950s and 1960s (I am assuming). It features an aluminum body that is 18 inches long and 6 ½” wide and 6 ½” deep. Inside it has a round “roller tray” that is 12 inches long. This tray has compartments for lures covered with a plastic window that can hold your tackle.
No more digging around in your tackle box to find a bait. Just rotate the inner cylinder to the desired lure, slide open the window, retrieve it…and fish!
While this concept looks good on paper, it was not very popular. I don’t think many were sold and I don’t think they were in production too long. I see them from time to time in Minnesota…but not near as much as other vintage tackle boxes.
